Virtual Interviews

Due to the challenges and risks imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mount Carmel Graduate Medical Education will follow the guidelines for resident interviews set forth by The Coalition for Physician Accountability, a cross-organizational group composed of AACOM, AAMC, ACGME, AMA, AOGME, AOA, ECFMG, FSMB, LCME, NBME and NBOME.

The traditional in-person interview process for applicants will be converted to virtual (online) interviews beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year. In preparation for this, our GME program has created the Virtual Interview Residency Task (VIRT) Force composed of program directors, residents, program administrators, as well as media and marketing personnel to address all aspects of the virtual (online) interview process.

After considerable review, the VIRT Force selected Thalamus as the software platform to host virtual online interviews for all our programs. Thalamus was developed as a collaboration of program directors, program administrators and applicants/medical students. Our goal is to provide our applicants/medical students with the best possible interview experience. To view the Thalamus Applicant User Guide, click here.

The VIRT Force is open to any feedback and welcomes suggestions from applicants in order to continue to improve this interview experience. We look forward to receiving your residency application. Thank you for your interest in Mount Carmel Graduate Medical Education.
