Providing Holistic Patient Care Through Innovative Training of Quality Physicians in a Supportive Educational Environment.
Mount Carmel has provided an academically strong community-based Family Medicine Residency Program since 1975. This program has produced a diverse group of Family Physicians who are leaders in the medical field throughout Ohio and the United States. Our residents have gone on to a variety of careers after graduation including:
- Outpatient family medicine – both rural and urban settings
- Urgent care centers
- Hospitalist medicine
- Academic medicine
- Fellowship training
The Mount Carmel Family Medicine Residency is a three-year program and is fully accredited by the ACGME. We educate and train Family Physicians to provide a broad range of primary care services to patients in all stages of life. The Family Medicine Residency is based at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, a regional medical center which recently received a 5-star rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Mount Carmel St. Ann's has also been recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation by IBM Watson Health and was named a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence in 2018 by Healthgrades. Here our residents receive their inpatient experience in an unopposed learning environment which allows constant interaction with a wide variety of specialists. The Mount Carmel St. Ann’s campus is also the site of our outpatient clinic, another vital component of resident education.
The Mount Carmel Family Medicine Residency program would like to recognize Dr. Timothy Graham for several National Presentations at the ACGME Annual Meetings along with RPS/PDW, STFM and AHME.
Mount Carmel St. Ann's Family Medicine Center is a state-of-the-art outpatient office and is located directly adjacent to the hospital. Our center, completed in 2008, provides a blend of an urban and suburban practice environment with a diverse patient population including multiple ethnicities and languages. This challenging outpatient experience gives our residents the opportunity to enhance their clinical and procedural skills.
Additionally, our residents benefit from the resources and specialty programs available at Mount Carmel West, Mount Carmel East, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University. At these sites they rotate with residents from General Surgery, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Geriatrics in order to broaden their educational experience.
At Mount Carmel, we live by our mission statement. We provide holistic care in our PCMH certified family practice office with an engaged staff of faculty physicians, nurses, social workers, and pharmacists. We produce quality physicians through innovative learning, which includes video observation, simulation modules, and formative feedback. And we do it all in a supportive environment which allows our residents to reach their potential as physicians.
