General Surgery

Welcome to the Mount Carmel General Surgery Website. Our program was founded in 1955 by Dr. Richard Zollinger with a primary focus on developing physicians into broad-based general surgeons who can serve their communities with a high level of surgical expertise. This continues to be accomplished today through a collegially intense training experience based on an extensive operative experience and rigorous academic curriculum. We have graduates all over the world and in most every subspecialty.

I've been part of the Mount Carmel family since coming here to train in 2008. Upon graduating the program in 2017, I remained here as faculty and a staff surgeon with Central Ohio Surgical Associates. Our group serves as the general surgeons and faculty at both hospitals at which the residents work.

I became the assistant program director in 2020 and the program director in 2021. I'm privileged to work with a talented group of surgery faculty to carry on the principles of training established by Drs. Zollinger, Traphagen, Hartranft, and Chambers which have served our resident surgeons well for six decades.

Thank you for your interest in Mount Carmel.
