Why I chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel because of the residents and attendings. I realized that no matter where I went for residency, I will spend long hours honing my skills in clinical medicine. The medicine is the same between programs, but the people make the difference! I felt an instant and easy connection with the residents at Mount Carmel. Whether it was playing kickball or discussing challenging cases, the residents are smart, hardworking and fun. The attendings show a daily commitment for meticulous patient care, are collegial and thoughtful in their teaching, and are excellent at mentoring and finding resources for all kinds of projects and research. Our community garden, culinary medicine, and mission trips are just a few examples of residents and faculty working together to create something we can all benefit from.
